If you haven't noticed, I am on the kebab/skewer train! But can you blame me? Summer is here which means there's no better excuse than to grill up tasty meals (preferably on sticks) as often as possible. What could be better?!

I nearly forgot about this oldie but goodie recipe, but thank goodness I dug it up! My mom used to make these every summer and boy were they good. Downright addictive, actually...

For spice lovers, this is your recipe. I'm not messing around on the spice level here either, these seriously pack a punch! They're smoky, savory and loaded with addictive spicy flavor. Plus, they're a cinch to throw together. A whisking together of a handful of everyday, flavorful ingredients creates for a robust marinade that you'll be coming back to all summer long on any of your favorite proteins or veggies alike.

But there's something so classic about this spicy yet savory combo on delicate, light shrimp. They're bold and a winning combo for all of your summer barbecue festivities. You're going to be hooked!

Spicy Shrimp Skewers

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds shrimp or prawns, cleaned and deveined with tails left on

  • Bamboo skewers, soaked in water for at least 2 hours

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce

  • 1/2 cup olive oil

  • 1/4 cup sesame oil

  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

  • 1 1/2 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes

  • 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • 2 teaspoon peeled and minced ginger

  • 2 teaspoon Dijon mustard

  • 2 teaspoon Tabasco or your favorite hot sauce

Directions

Whisk all ingredients (besides shrimp - and skewers, obviously) together and pour over shrimp in a Ziploc bag or large dish. Marinate for 30 minutes in refrigerator.

Heat grill over medium high heat. Stick 4-6 shrimp/prawns on each skewer and grill for 3 minutes a side. Serve immediately - enjoy!
