Garlic Sesame Noodles
Whenever I find myself in a recipe rut, I find it's best to take a minute, slow down and get back to the basics. Translation: I like to pull all the cookbooks from my bookshelf and look for inspiration. I love Pinterest and all, but there's something about flipping through tangible cookbooks I just love! As I peeled through the pages of some tried and true cookbooks a few weekends ago, I stumbled across a truly nostalgic recipe for me: garlic sesame noodles.
For my garlic lovers out there, these noodles are for you! They are chock full of garlic (10 cloves, to be exact), layered with tantalizing umami flavors from tahini and soy sauce, and pack a punch from hot sesame oil. My favorite part of these noodles is that they're served cold which, for some reason, just makes them taste even better. Perfect for a picnic or a backyard BBQ, these garlic sesame noodles are straight addictive and I'm so glad I dug out this oldie but goodie family favorite. You are going to love them.
Garlic Sesame Noodles
Ingredients
1 package Chinese noodles (or spaghetti will work just fine too)
2-3 carrots, shredded/grated
1 teaspoon sherry
10 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup cilantro, chopped
1/2 cup tahini
1/2 cup soy sauce
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons hot Chinese sesame oil
Directions
Cook noodles according to package instructions. Drain well and set aside. In a large bowl, combine sherry, garlic, tahini, soy sauce, sugar and hot sesame oil. Add noodles, carrots and cilantro and toss to combine. Refrigerate for at least an hour and serve noodles cold. Tip: they are even better on day 2!
