Thanks to the internet, I was just informed that today is #NationalWatermelonDay. Not that anyone needs a hashtag or an excuse to celebrate such an occasion (or any other obscure food-centric holiday for that matter), but if there was an excuse to make and imbibe in my salted watermelon margaritas, today would be the ideal day to do so!

Y’all, I am OBSESSED over this new cocktail hour stunner. Perfect for a hot, summer day and getting your happy hour on in festive fashion, these salted watermelon margaritas are as cool and refreshing as can be.

So go ahead and blast “Watermelon Sugar” and give these babies a whirl in the blender to enjoy on this splendid summer food holiday!

Salted Watermelon Margaritas

Makes two cocktails

  • 3 cups frozen watermelon chunks

  • 2 oz simple syrup

  • 2 oz fresh lime juice

  • 4 oz blanco tequila - try Lunazul, Sauza or Espalon for affordable yet tasty tequila!

  • Pinch of Kosher salt

  • Fresh watermelon wedges, for garnish

Blend ingredients together in a blender. Adjust to taste - feel free to add more tequila/lime juice/salt/simple syrup/watermelon to your liking! Garnish with watermelon wedges and enjoy with a straw!
