Nutella Stuffed French Toast

While I’m an unapologetic savory breakfast lover through and through, sometimes I need a little sweet breakfast in my life. And my sweet breakfast of choice definitely has to be something you can drizzle maple syrup over. Question: is there anything better than a hot sweet treat with even sweeter maple syrup?

Answer: the addition of delicious Nutella, that's what!

Not that Nutella ever wasn't amazing, but it's funny how as of late Nutella is really making a comeback. I have memories of eating it as a treat growing up and then there's was this really dark period of my life where I didn't eat it (and I'm pretty sure nobody else did either.) Once Pinterest happened, it's like the world rediscovered Nutella in all of its glory. Thanks, Pinterest!

So I thought what better way to bring back Nutella than combining it with one of my favorite sweet breakfast treats, French toast. This Nutella stuffed French toast is like your standard French toast on steroids. And it's amazing.

And there's really nothing easier than making this simply decadent, brunch-worthy recipe either. If you can scramble eggs and you can make a sandwich, my friend, you can also make Nutella French toast. It's that simple and it's that good. The next time you want the sugar rush of your life, or you want to just jazz up your weekend breakfast, you have to try this one out!

Nutella Stuffed French Toast

Serves 2 - can easily be doubled, tripled, etc!

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of thick white bread or brioche

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 4 tablespoons Nutella

  • 2 tablespoons butter

Directions

Whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon and vanilla extract in a shallow bowl. Spread Nutella evenly across 4 slices of bread and sandwich together with the other half.

Heat a flat top griddle or large skillet over medium high heat and spread butter evenly across surface. Dunk sandwiches in egg batter mixture to coat. Drain off any excess before placing in skillet or on flat top. Cook for about 2 minutes a side or until French toast is golden brown. Slice diagonally and serve with a sprinkling of powdered sugar, maple syrup and raspberries (and a side of bacon...#savorybreakfastperson4life).
