I am a firm believer that a party cannot be considered a party without food. Living my life firmly by this philosophy, you know I have a few go-to favorite party snacks. Sausage stuffed mushrooms, sweet and spicy pecans and curry deviled eggs rank right up there with the best in my book. But probably the most underrated party snack out there is a good, old fashioned veggie tray.

Don't get me wrong, veggies on their own are a crisp, fresh and delicious reprieve in a sea of savory snacks at a party. But let's be real: nobody ever fell in love with a veggie tray just because the cucumbers were on point. Veggies are merely a vehicle for dipping. Which is why I believe no veggie tray is complete without a delicious ranch dip!

Ranch and veggies go together like peas and carrots, peanut butter and jelly, cookies and milk - just name a better combo! And while you may think a bottle of store-bought ranch will do the trick, think again. My buttermilk ranch dip comes together easier and faster than you can say “Hidden Valley Ranch”, and it’s darn tastier too!

This buttermilk ranch dip really has it all, friends. It's quite possibly the easiest thing to make, it's creamy, zesty and bound to be the next star of your party. So what are you waiting for? On your marks, get set, dip!

Buttermilk Ranch Dip

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayo

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 1/4 cup buttermilk (or more depending on the consistency you prefer)

  • 1/4 cup fresh dill, chopped

  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder

  • 2 teaspoons dried basil

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 black pepper

Directions

Combine all ingredients together in a mason jar or a large liquid measuring cup. Secure lid on mason jar and shake all ingredients or whisk in measuring cup, adding more buttermilk until it reaches desired consistency. Taste for desired seasoning. Serve with veggies, on sandwiches and/or eat with a spoon.
